The Pheu Thai party, under its new leadership, will keep its eyes on the stars and its feet on the ground, while standing shoulder to shoulder with the people, said Paetongtarn today (Friday) in her first speech as party leader.
“Pheu Thai party’s heart is the people,” she said.
She said she realises that her new mission is sizeable and important, especially in the current volatile political context.“I have great confidence in the party, because it has a large number of well-qualified personnel with considerable experience. We have continuously developed since the Thai Rak Thai days,” she said.
Paetongtarn, the youngest daughter of imprisoned former PM Thaksin, added that she has to thank her father for showing his commitment and political ideology to her.
“I would like to thank Khun Thaksin for allowing me to learn from him and being my inspiration in life,” she said.
The party will continue to develop, she said, with leadership by a new generation of politicians. We will learn lessons from the May general election, in order to lead the party back to its first place position.
The premiership of Srettha Thavisin over the past two months has been productive, creating opportunities for the people and the country, she said, adding the party will continue working to improve equality and the quality of lives, she said.
