Three former MPs of the Bhumjaithai party were sentenced to nine months in prison without suspension today (Thursday), after they were found guilty of allowing their colleagues to insert their ID cards on January 10th and 11th, 2020 during a parliamentary debate on the budget bill.
The Supreme Court’s Criminal Division for Political Office Holders also dismissed them from political office and stripped them of their rights to contest elections and to vote in elections for life.
The three former MPs are Chalong Toedweerapong and Poomsit Kongmee, who represented Phatthalung province, and Natee Ratchakitprakarn, a former party-list MP.
The court initially sentenced each of them to one-year in prison, but commuted the sentence to nine months without suspension.
Each of them was released on one million baht bail.
