Owner of Phuket’s Sri Panwa luxury resort crashes again, Bentley engulfed in flames

A year after a serious car accident, the owner of Phuket’s Sri Panwa resort was in another accident where he lost control of his Bentley as he drove around a bend, causing it to flip multiple times. He and his friends were able to escape the car before it was engulfed in flames. No one was injured.

The owner of the luxury resort, Vorasit “Pla Wan” Issara, was driving from Khao Lak to Natai in the Phang Nga province around 7pm yesterday when he lost control of the car around a bend on Phetkasem Road. Pla Wan’s Bentley came off the road, flipped multiple times before ending up parked up on the side of the road. Shortly after Pla Wan and his friends escaped the car, it set on fire and was quickly engulfed in flames. The total damage is thought to be at least 30 million baht. Everyone came out unharmed.

In March 2021, Pla Wan was seriously injured after crashing into a power pole in Phuket province. It took rescuers one hour to free Plawan from the car, using the hydraulic equipment known as the “jaws of life” to pry open the wreckage. He was treated at Vichara Hospital’s ICU for a brain injury, which Pla Wan has since recovered from.

Pla Wan is a businessman and eldest son of real estate tycoon Songkran Issara. Pla Wan has been in the media spotlight for allegedly acquiring land documents for the resort illegally, criticising a pro-democracy activist, and, most recently, for threatening to sue a guest because they wrote a negative review.
